The Weeknd’s Car Collection Oozes Passion For Automobiles

Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, professionally known as The Weeknd, is a Canadian singer and songwriter whose album “Starboy” became one of the very few in history to have 5 songs with over 1 billion streams each. The number of Grammy, BET, and Billboard Music Awards owned by Weeknd simply takes him to the level of a music legend. This makes us wonder why Weeknd has such a limited car collection. 

The easiest assumption would be that Weeknd is not that much into cars but going through the models he has you would understand how wrong a guess it is. From posing with a classic vehicle to cruising with one of the most expensive supercars, Weeknd has done it all. The singer also features several cars in his music videos which really shows his passion for automobiles. 

5. Porsche 911 Carrera

The most flaunted car from The Weeknd’s car collection is probably the Porsche in white. You might think that he is all about modern sports cars but the Porsche 911 Carrera with a “Star Boy” number plate is actually a classic from the mid-70s. Although the exact model year is never disclosed it is certainly a G Series from the German manufacturer. 

There are some speculations about Abel’s ownership of the 911 Carrera since the car was only showcased for a Puma promotional photoshoot. However, the number of images Weeknd has with the car and the way he has posed with it suggests that it is actually his car. The Porsche proves that the singer is passionate about automobiles rather than just owning flashy toys to show off. 

4. Mercedes-AMG G63

The Mercedes-AMG G63 is the only SUV from Abel’s garage and this is certainly his favorite. The AMG G63 has been mentioned in his “Often” where he flexed about girls willing to get a seat in it. We have also got a few glimpses of his Matic Gray Mercedes in two other videos, namely “King Of The Fall” and “Wicked Game”. 

The Mercedes-AMG SUV might be the odd one out among Weeknd’s possessions but there are too many reasons to be his favorite. Although this is neither a grand tourer nor a limited classic, the G-Class offers enough comfort and luxury. Combine that with great offroad prowess and you will understand why the four-time Grammy winner loves the Merc so much. 

3. Bentley Mulsanne

The Weeknd purchased a Bentley Mulsanne around 2016 after his success with the album “Beauty Behind the Madness”. The only sedan from his collection comes with top-notch luxury pampering the passengers with lucrative features. This is one of the reasons that Abel often hands over the keys to the Bentley to someone else so that he can enjoy the ride as a passenger. 

The Mulsanne is a proper car to be chauffeured in but that does not necessarily mean that the singer arrives at his important meetings in this car only. Abel has been spotted wandering around the city streets with one of his friends behind the wheel. It was apparent that he was having a good time with his buddies and apparently, that was the main cause of them riding the black Bentley. 

2. Lamborghini Aventador SV

The second most expensive car from The Weeknd’s garage is the Lamborghini Aventador SV. He got it around 2017 and the Aventador Super Veloce is known to be the sportiest Lamborghini ever. The road-legal supercar can get the blood pumping for anyone behind the wheel and Abel cruises the streets of Los Angeles in style. 

The Billboard Music Award winner has often posed with his orange Lamborghini parked in front of his LA home. However, back in 2018, he took his Aventador to Malibu with a friend of his. Needless to say, Weeknd drove the Lambo himself which proves that besides posing with cars he is an avid driver as well. 

1. McLaren P1

The McLaren P1 is the absolute bomb in Abel’s collection for multiple reasons. The $1.5 million hybrid supercar comes with incredible performance and the driving experience is unmatched. People have been suspicious of how the singer could afford such an expensive vehicle but with a net worth of $300 million, Weeknd can easily buy a few more of these. 

However, that is just a theory since the P1 is limited to 130 units only. For the same reason, The Weeknd offers special treatment for the McLaren. We first saw the supercar in his “Starboy” music video where he walks around a garage full of cars and stops in front of the P1. he even took it for a spin and it was later clarified that the sing and songwriter actually owns a red McLaren P1. 

Bonus: Mercedes Benz EQC

There are multiple images available on different social media platforms showing The Weeknd posing with a Mercedes-Benz EQC which has resulted in people assuming he owns one. However, the truth is that Weeknd was the creative director of the “Enjoy Electric” campaign by Mercedes and even designed the ad for the EQC which features him and his famous song “Blinding Lights”. 

The photoshoots with the EQC look so natural that it is easy to get confused about the singer actually owning the electric vehicle. Unfortunately, there has been no official confirmation on the topic nor has the singer been spotted driving the same and every source only refers to the ad.
